Chicago Sky players said a man with a camera harassed the team when they arrived at a hotel in Washington on Wednesday.
General manager Jeff Pagliocca told the Chicago Sun-Times that the man tried to talk to Chennady Carter to protect him. He said the team’s security quickly diffused the situation and police were not called. However, several players have described incidents that occurred at X.
Rookie Angel Reese wrote, “It’s offensive to have a camera on your teammate’s face as she gets off the bus and harass her. This is truly out of control and it needs to stop.”
Striker Isabelle Harrison posted: “Wow!!! Thank God for security. It’s crazy that my teammate was being harassed in our hotel! We couldn’t even get off the bus!!!”
Striker Michaela Onyenwere wrote: “We have to draw a line when it comes to harassment in our hotels. Some “fans” just don’t calm down.” She also praised the team’s security, adding: “It’s still very strange and beyond the boundaries that meet us as soon as we get off the bus.”
Carter has been in the spotlight recently after taking a shoulder shot on Indiana Fever rookie Kaitlyn Clark ahead of an inbounds pass on Saturday. The referees called it an away foul, but the WNBA later upgraded it to a serious 1.
