Crosby, a native of Cole Harbor, N.S., earned the “King of Dots” crown when Boston Bruins legend Patrice Bergeron scored the faceoff winner in the game’s second period. The NHL began tracking that statistic in the 1997-98 season.
The Penguins took a 3-1 lead in the third quarter, but the Blue Jackets battled back, eventually tying the score and sending the game to overtime. The Blue Jackets won 4-3 in a shootout.
Crosby had two assists Tuesday night, bringing his season total to 33. He also has 44 points and 11 goals in 42 games so far this year.
