Hakeem Kunene has been banned for three weeks for a dangerous tackle during the Sharks’ Invetec Champions Cup defeat in Bordeaux last weekend.
The Sharks fullback received a yellow card for the hit. Quotes from the Commissioner were made after the game:
At an independent disciplinary hearing, Kunene admitted he had committed a foul play but felt the tackle did not warrant a red card upgrade.
However, the committee did not agree to this.
A six-week sanction was the starting point, but Kunene’s guilty plea and good disciplinary record led to the sanction being shortened to three weeks.
