The T20 World Cup is knocking on the door. In a few days, the cricket fraternity will enjoy another thrilling tournament. Pakistan will be the last team to declare its squad. Without many major changes, Pakistan chose their players. However, Azam Khan’s selection in the T20 World Cup squad did not sit well with former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi. And he made a great comment about it.
Afridi on Azam Khan’s selection:
Preparations for the upcoming T20 World Cup have begun. All teams are working hard. Pakistan has finally announced its T20 World Cup squad. There aren’t any major changes, but it does contain some interesting content. Azam Khan, who has made several headlines for his fitness routine, has been given the opportunity to represent his country on the big stage at the T20 World Cup.
Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has raised concerns about Azam Khan’s fitness for the national team. Afridi emphasized the importance of fitness, saying he would not allow Khan to play for Pakistan until his fitness improved. Afridi believes that maintaining high fitness levels improves a player’s body language on the field, which is important for performing at the highest level.
He said, “Fitness is the most important. If you’re fit, you can show it on the ground through your body language – whether it’s your batting, bowling or fielding. There is no compromise when it comes to physical fitness. As far as fitness is concerned, I will never allow Azam Khan anywhere near the team.”
Azam Khan’s struggles behind the wickets:
This T20 World Cup will be hosted by West Indies and USA. The team will be playing in Caribbean conditions. Azam Khan, traveling as a wicket-keeper batsman, will play an important role in the tournament. He needs to be fit to be flexible behind the stumps and Afridi has raised concerns about that.
He said, “In England (while maintaining) the ball moves behind the stumps. But when they go to the West Indies, the ball will not be carried much there and will be kept low. I hope he doesn’t struggle, but I worry about facing the West Indies spinners with this stamina. “Because you have to keep the ball low and you have to keep your body low.”
Ahead of the T20 World Cup, Pakistan will face England in a T20 series. After the first match of the series was abandoned, Pakistan suffered a 23-run defeat in the second match. They will be working hard to end the series on a winning note. The team will then play its first match against the United States in the T20 World Cup on June 6. On June 9, they will face their biggest rivals ever, India, in New York.
