Pakistan cricket team’s fast bowler Shaheen Afridi has been accused of misbehaving with head coach Gary Kirsten and other support staff during the Ireland-England tour and the 2024 T20 World Cup. According to the report, Shaheen misbehaved with Kirsten and Azhar Mahmood but the team managers who were with him during the tournament took no action against him. “Shaheen had misbehaved with the coach and management during the recent tour but the team managers did not take any action against the pacer’s misbehavior,” a source told Geo News.
The report added that “an investigation is ongoing into why no action was taken when Shahin’s inappropriate behaviour was detected, as it was the responsibility of the manager to maintain discipline within the team.”
According to reports, Pakistan cricket team players are also under investigation after coaches complained about lobbying and lack of seriousness among players during recent tournaments.
āThe board is investigating the players who are lobbying and the benefits they are receiving from lobbying. Sources say the teamās coaches have complained to the PCB chairman that there has been a lack of seriousness among the players and that there have been disciplinary breaches on recent tours,ā the report added.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board has sacked former Test players Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razak from the selection committee following the team’s dismal performance in the T20 World Cup last month.
Wahab and Razak were part of a committee without a chairman, which also included the national team captain, head coach and data analyst.
“The Pakistan Cricket Board today confirmed that it has informed Abdul Razak and Wahab Riaz that their services will no longer be required in forming the national selection committee,” a statement from the PCB said.
Razzaq was part of the men’s and women’s selection committees, while Wahab was part of the men’s panel. “The PCB will provide further updates on the composition of the selection committee in due course,” the PCB statement said.
