Shadow of the Erdtree launched globally on June 21st and introduced a whole new challenge to Elden Ring players. This was too much of a challenge for many gamers. It became the highest-rated RPG DLC of all time, beating out The Witcher 3’s Blood and Wine by a few points. Since the highly anticipated release of Shadow of the Erdtree, Elden Ring has become one of the most popular games in the world, soaring on Steam and content and streaming platforms.
It has now been confirmed that Shadow of the Erdtree has sold a whopping 5 million copies in just three days.
big number
FromSoftware revealed the milestone in a social media post and thanked players for their dedication.
Over the past few days, Shadow of the Erdtree has been at the top of newsfeeds around the world. It caused many players to reluctantly quit playing earlier than expected, especially due to how difficult the game was. Some streamers, like Asmongold, gave up on it because it was too difficult, emphasizing that it was enjoyable.
To achieve that goal, FromSoftware has introduced some changes to make early game bosses easier to defeat, and has plans to ‘weaken’ the most powerful bosses in Shadow of the Erdtree in the future.
But it’s not all bad news. One streamer used his brain waves to defeat two Shadow of the Erdtree bosses. There were suggestions in May that there would be no more DLC for Elden Ring and that Shadow of the Erdtree was the end of all things. Not unless FromSoftware makes an Elden Ring movie.
