australia 153-4 (Green 62*, Marsh 31, Curry 2-20) win The Granite City 149 runs for 9 with 6 wickets (McMullen 56, Green 3-35, Hardie 2-18)
Green set a career-best score to help restrict the home team to 149-9 before finishing the chase with his highest score of the day as Australia overcame the difficulty of losing their opener early to complete the chase with 23 balls to spare.
Curry back in action for Australia opener
In the next over, Curry holed out the head to long-on to claim both of Australia’s opening overs in their first two overs, for the second successive game.
Green, Marcy take control of the chase
Curry was bowled three consecutive overs in the powerplay and Scotland looked to make the most of the early action provided. But Marsh and Greene took charge of the left-handed quicks in the sixth over, and both batsmen hit him for six between long-on and deep midwicket.
Marsh caught Chris Sole for a six and caught Safyaan Sharif on the edge. When Mark Watt went into attack, Green drove him to the ground for a four and then a six from long-on.
Jack Jarvis provided the breakthrough for Scotland as Marsh tried to claw a long ball off the pitch.
Greene singled after getting Jarvis to ground out to make it 50 on 33 pitches.
David, who had hit two fours to end Jarvis’s over, latched onto Sole’s slow short ball to deep backward square leg to slam home, but by then Australia needed just 19 more runs from 34 balls.
Green continued to oppose Watt, hitting six more runs from him before Aaron Hardy clinched the over with a square drive that crossed the second boundary.
Munsey leads Scotland to a good start
Michael Jones’ injury brought Ollie Hairs back into the team and he was the one who gave Scotland the early momentum after Australia opted to bowl. He hit Hardy over the covers for four and then took Shaun Abbott for six. But Hardy cut him off to give Australia their first breakthrough.
Munsey, who had been struggling until then, finished his third over with a quick handed swish over midwicket for six. Debutant Cooper Connolly received the ball in the powerplay and McMullen met it with a six-run over long-on. In the next over, McMullen hooked Stoinis for four.
Green took the sixth over and drew Munsey’s inside edge, sending it past the stumps for four. Munsey dropped the next ball over the cow corner, but Green gave him space and steered the catch to backward point.
McMullen represents Scotland.
Scoring slowed down as fielding restrictions eased. Greene bowled Richie Barrington through the gate, coming in lively from outside off. But McMullen continued his excellent form against Australia, hooking Greene for six. When a cross was bowled by Adam Zampa three overs later, McMullen responded with a leg-spinner over long-on.
McMullen remained unmoved even as Michael Riske holed out after David made a diving catch on Abbott’s long-on. He hit a four off Connolly to reach 50 from 32 balls.
But Head ended McMullen’s innings with a stunning catch at short fine leg. McMullen tried to scoop a short ball over his shoulder and timed it well, but Head moved to his right and caught the ball.
Scotland lost three wickets and scored just 11 runs in their remaining 20 overs, with Green dismissing Mark Watt in the final over to claim his first three wickets in a T20.
