It’s a bit strange to think that Australian pop prodigy Ruel is still only 21 years old.
The star is far from the new kid on the block, with a string of headline-making tours around the world and a critically acclaimed 2023 debut album. 4th wall. First arriving on the scene at the age of 14, the London-born Australian can be said to be a veteran well before his years.
In her latest single ‘Cats on the Ceiling’, Ruel draws on her experiences in a laid-back, sunny film about accepting life as it comes. The singer teams up with longtime producer M-Phazes in the film.
He said: “I think there is so much more we could experience in this life if we could just “let go” of all that pent-up self-control from time to time.
“I wrote Cats to express the joy I get from surrendering to the unknown, and I hope people can interpret it in a way that feels good for them.”
The single follows Ruel’s long-awaited move from Australia to Los Angeles, following his five-track Adaptions covers project. Earlier this year, Ruel released two collaborative singles with indie rock trio DMA’S, ‘What a Life’ and ‘We’re a Pair of Diamonds’.
