Sydney Roosters star Dominic Young has given his take on switching codes to rugby union.
The England winger is reportedly considering a switch to the United to represent his home country. He then followed former team-mates Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii and Joey Manu from the Roosters into rugby union.
“There have been a few rumors going around recently, but there hasn’t been any real talk or anything like that,” Young told News Corp.
“I’ve thought about it in the past, I’ve had conversations with a few clubs before, but here we are.
“I don’t really want to play Union, it’s just an option I’ve been considering.”
Young’s manager Michael Cincotta sparked rumors earlier this year when he told British media there was strong interest in Young from European rugby teams.
“There has always been strong interest from rugby union in Dom,” Cincotta said.
“There were some discussions before Dom started his NRL career. If the opportunity is right, it’s definitely something to consider. Dom is an outstanding athlete and will transition seamlessly into his game-breaking abilities.
“Dome only scratches the surface of what he can do.
“If he switches to rugby union he will undoubtedly attract significant attention and increase interest in the sport. “The dome is the box office.”
Young is contracted to the Roosters until the end of 2027 and is one of the competition’s strongest strikers, scoring 63 tries in 73 games for the Knights and Roosters.
