Rohit Sharma welcomes India’s defense
In a video posted by BCCI, after winning the series, captain Rohit Sharma praised the players’ defensive effort in the two-match series. Rohit Sharma explained:
“It may not be noticeable, but I just heard that out of 24 catches, we took 23 of them. You know, that’s a good result, especially in the slips. The ball went past the slips, which you don’t see very often in India, but was behind. The people standing are too sharp.
“And making that catch may look easy on television, but it’s not. Trust me, they’re way ahead of what they normally are, so it’s very difficult to catch every catch that comes my way. My reaction time is very short. “I saw everyone putting in a lot of effort to correct that.”
He is an outstanding athlete and gives everything he has on the field. Mohammed Siraj was praised by Rohit Sharma.
Rohit Sharma praised fielding coach T Dilip for helping his players improve their fielding and then spoke about Mohammed Siraj’s game-changing one-handed stunner technique that dismissed Shakib Al Hasan in the Kanpur Test.
The India skipper said he believes Siraj gives his all on the pitch and tries to do a lot to get the job done for the team even on a flat pitch. Rohit Sharma explained:
“And Dilip is definitely helping the guys. There were some important catches and he really turned the game around and we saw Siraj. Siraj is a great athlete. He is a great athlete and gives everything he has on the field. Even when he bowls on a flat pitch, he talks to the batsman and makes him a little uncomfortable so he wants to be in the game and the team is in the game.
“And that’s what he believes and we’ve seen it over the years. Now, it’s been happening for years.”
Surely there are players around me who are open to making suggestions. – Rohit Sharma
Talking about his leadership, Rohit Sharma said that after playing for so long, he has gained a lot of experience and has confidence in his own judgement. Rohit Sharma explained:
“I think when you play at this high level you have to have a bit of everything. You have to be calm and think smart. There are a lot of decisions you have to make on the field. Not all of them are like that. You will go your own way but you have to back it up and have the experience. and knowledge must be utilized.
“So that’s what I do. I’ve been there enough to trust the judgments made on the field, the decisions made on the field. I trust them and follow them. Obviously there are players. People around me are open to suggestions. But at the end of the day, it’s my opinion. I think it’s all about trusting your judgment.”
