In a recent interview with MSNBC’s Stephanie Rule, quoting the actor himself calling the former president a “crook,” De Niro declared, “He’s more than that to me,” and later added that he believes Trump is “sick.”
“He’s a really, really sick person and someone who somehow got into our system,” the actor said. “And he’s tired of swearing at the guy. The guy can’t even be near the Oval Office.”
In response to a question De Niro has been asked several times recently, Rule asked, “You’ve played a lot of bad guys. Would you ever play Donald Trump?” In response, the actor responded, “Absolutely not. He has nothing… There is nothing redeeming about him that I can see.”
“It’s funny. I was thinking he actually became president,” he continued, without providing any empirical evidence to support his delusional claim. De Niro said, “He could have done good things (and) instead he just had to do it all wrong. As we all know, he is so narcissistic and self-centered.”

When asked what message De Niro is sending to registered voters who don’t like Trump but will still vote for him in the upcoming presidential election, he said, “I don’t understand. I don’t think they understand how dangerous he would be if he became president. “
“I don’t think they really understand,” he added. “And historically, even in Nazi Germany, they were with Hitler. Don’t take him seriously. He looks like a clown and acts like a clown. Mussolini… “It’s the same.”
De Niro, who earlier said he was tired of criticizing Trump, went on to call the former president a clown, adding, “I don’t know why, but these people look like clowns and somehow they look like people.” “In some ways we are with him, but it will be more chaotic than we can imagine.”
“There’s no mystery about (Trump). He’s right in front of you, and what he’s saying is what’s going to happen if he becomes president,” De Niro quipped before adding that the country’s democracy would be at risk if Trump wins. election.

“Of course democracy is great, but I always say that people take it for granted. It’s a word that some people don’t even understand. They take it for granted,” the actor lamented. “It’s a question of right and wrong. period. (Trump) is a monster. He cannot be wrong.”
Nonetheless, he continued to make baseless accusations. “It’s almost like he wants to do the most horrible thing he can think of to make us successful. “I don’t know what it is, but he’s been doing it and it’s really scary.”
De Niro continued to ramble on, saying he began to see parallels between President Trump being elected and Nazi Germany. “When I was a kid, they would say, ‘You don’t really understand this country,’” he said, recalling the time when Eastern Europeans and Jews escaped and arrived in the United States during World War II. You really don’t. We know from experience.’”
“Imagine what those people went through.” “I’m just starting to see,” De Niro said thoughtfully. When I was young, I said, ‘Hitler is a nightmare. I used to say, ‘That will never happen,’ but now I know it’s possible.” He went on to declare that re-electing Joe Biden is the only option available to the United States.
“We have no choice, and I think he’s the right person,” he said of Biden. He’s trying to do the right thing. We have no choice. I say this in a very positive and good way.”
