Rob Burrow urged people to “stand up bravely” after his final message was shown in a documentary marking his death.
It was announced that former rugby league player Burrow died on Sunday aged 41 after a four-and-a-half year battle with motor neuron disease.
And last night his message was broadcast in a BBC documentary about his life.
“I hope that one day we can find a cure and live in a world without MND,” Burrow said. By the time you see this I won’t be here anymore.
“I’m a lad from Yorkshire who has achieved his dream of playing rugby league.”
Starr added. “As a father of three children, I would never want any family to have to go through what my family went through following a diagnosis.
“I hope the disease has left its mark. I hope it shows you living in the moment. I hope you find the whole story inspiring.”
And he ended by saying: “My final message to you is to fight bravely whatever your personal battle is.
“Every day is precious. Don’t waste a single moment.
“Even in a world full of adversity, we still have to dream.
“Rob Burrows, keep going.”
