Erik Ten Hag’s job security at Manchester United is a topic that will dominate the papers until the end of the season.
Recent reports suggest he will remain on the touchline until at least the FA Cup final, but with each bad result the chances of him being on the touchline for any longer diminish.
At the same time, the case for a potential replacement becomes stronger as a byproduct of that happening.
The potential replacement who has sparked the most fire over the past few days has been Thomas Tuchel.
The German will leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season and has nothing left to play for after their heartbreaking narrow exit at the hands of Real Madrid.
Add to that Bayern’s interest in Ten Hag, and it could be a case of the two clubs effectively swapping managers, although the wisdom behind it is debatable.
Meanwhile, Tuchel is doing nothing to add water to the flames and only fan the flames further.
The German recently said the Premier League was special to him, and his interaction with Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand before the match set social media alight.
During the match, Tuchel broke ranks and came to greet Ferdinand, and the pair exchanged a few words away from the cameras.

Asked what he had said, Ferdinand said he wished Tuchel good luck in the game but was tight-lipped about United’s prospects.
It might be a stretch to say they were talking about United before Bayern’s biggest game of the season, but the optics of Tuchel doing so are hard to ignore.
Now that Bayern are out of all competitions and his exit has been sealed, the story will soon pick up speed. Especially with Ten Hag himself facing four tough games before the end of the season.
