Baku, Azerbaijan, January 13. Iran believes that security in the South Caucasus should be guaranteed by regional countries without foreign intervention, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghei told a news conference in Tehran today.
The official pointed out that Iran’s relations with Azerbaijan and Armenia are very important and that the security of the South Caucasus is very important to Iran.
“Iran is exploiting its full potential to protect and strengthen the security of this important region. The visit of Ali Akbar Ahmadian, Minister of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, to both countries aims to strengthen dialogue between the two countries. Processes such as the 3+3 format “will help maintain peace and stability in the region,” he said, adding, “Iran is ready to help sustain this process.”
