After Punjab Kings refused to push the envelope, Royal Challengers Bangalore acquired the services of Jitesh Sharma for a whopping INR 11 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction held in Jeddah recently.

In fact, RCB needed an experienced wicket-taking batsman after the retirement of Dinesh Karthik and Jitesh was the perfect choice for them. We are delighted to announce that Jitesh Sharma, who previously played for PBKS and Mumbai Indians, has joined Royal Challengers Bangalore, known for their passionate fan base and dynamic energy.

He is also excited to play alongside former RCB skipper Virat Kohli in IPL 2025. After three years at PBKS, Sharma served as vice-captain under Sam Curran in IPL 2024 and even led the team once.
The Vidarbha wicketkeeper-batsman and captain has played 40 matches in the IPL so far, scoring 730 runs at a strike rate of 151.13. The wicketkeeper has also taken 25 catches and contributed to four stumps in the IPL so far.

Speaking about the IPL 2025 mega auction, Jitesh, who is currently leading Vidarbha in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024-25, said that he is incredibly grateful and thankful to God for RCB showing faith in him, which has given him confidence. I’m happy to play for them.

The Times of India quoted Jitesh Sharma as saying: “I am very happy to be in Vizag now and playing in front of the fans because I can see their loyalty and madness towards RCB. When you go to bat, you can see fans chanting ‘RCB, RCB, RCB!’ You can feel their passion, madness and loyalty towards RCB. “It looks like it will be fun, and I’m very excited and excited to play in front of them.”

The 31-year-old wicket-keeper-batsman is excited to play under Virat Kohli for RCB and believes the iconic batsman’s energy and passion will motivate him to improve his game. The right-handed batsman is also looking forward to learning from Kohli’s consistency, stamina and motivation.
