I have been using a wired Logitech USB mouse for years and it suddenly became much slower. I thought it was a settings issue. I turned the speed up to max in Settings > Mouse. It was still slower than I wanted. When I take out my Magic Mouse and tap, the cursor moves across the screen.
So I have a standard USB mouse and an Apple Magic Mouse that suddenly became a slug… Both of these devices seem to be managed by a single preferences pane, ostensibly stored in a .plist.
The files found on this site are as follows: ~/Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences.plist
Moving files ~/Users/brap/Desktop
If I save and let the OS recreate the file, I still get the same result. Wired slug and Bluetooth rocket.
People have suggested that I should contact Logitech. It’s a hardware issue, not a software issue. This might make sense if the device hadn’t suddenly changed behavior two days ago.
I’ll take my mouse to a nearby big box store to see if the issue is replicated there.
Hopefully someone can give me an idea of what to try next, rather than backing everything up and reinstalling from scratch. Does anyone of you know more about preferences and plists? Is there something I’m overlooking?
best.
