It’s sad to see one of the greatest esports players in history retire from competition. Popular Dota 2 competitor Topson is officially retiring from the competitive Dota 2 scene. This comes shortly after he and his team finished third at The International 2024.
Topson announces retirement from Dota 2 competitive scene
The gaming legend recently announced his official retirement from the Dota 2 competitive scene via Twitter on the official Tundra Esports page. Having competed for Tundra Esports for quite some time, the competitor offered some insight into his reasons for leaving the Dota 2 competitive world.
“I’ve always loved competing,” Topson said in a Twitter video announcing his retirement. “But my life has always been about Dota. I think this year has given me a lot of clarity about my future.”
The rest of the video was filled with heartfelt moments and showcased Topson’s winning career. The competitor has seen the blonde in Dota 2 action over the years, with a number of iconic moments competing at The International events and more.

From The International 3rd to Retirement: Topson Officially Exits
Earlier this year, Topson and his team Tundra Esports took third place at The International (TI) 2024 tournament. That may not seem all that impressive compared to the teams that took first and second place, but this competitor has one of the most impressive resumes in all of esports.
He has competed in various TI events, as well as taking first place at The International in 2019.
With millions of dollars in earnings, Topson has had one of the most accomplished esports careers from the start, showing just how much perseverance and hard work can pay off in a career.
