PlayStation reiterated its approach to releasing games on PC, saying live service games will be released daily on PC. But the core single-player game doesn’t.
That’s what Hermen Hulst, one of PlayStation’s dual CEOs, said during a public business presentation this morning. In the meantime, Hulst explained PlayStation’s strategy of releasing single-player games on PC at a later date rather than later, noting that this is part of a strategy to attract more people to the PlayStation platform.
“We are actually bringing our titles to the PC platform and there is a two-fold approach here,” Hulst said. “On the live services side, we are releasing titles simultaneously on PlayStation 5 and PC day in and day out. But for our tentpole titles, they are single-player narrative-driven titles that are the backbone of what PlayStation Studios has delivered in recent years. We’re taking a more strategic approach, introducing great franchises to new audiences and potentially finding new audiences who will be very interested in playing the sequel and more on PlayStation platforms.
“We have great hopes of actually being able to bring new players to PlayStation, and specifically to the PlayStation platform, as well as working on expanding our great properties into other media, such as TV series, for example, as seen in the movies. the last of us on HBO or grand tourism “Movies also bring new players to our franchise.”
This isn’t surprising, but while we saw live service multiplayer Helldivers 2 launch simultaneously on PS5 and PC earlier this year, Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut only released on PC this month, a few years after the PS5 launch. Hear officially about PlayStation’s future approach.
