MESQUITE, Texas – The Texas Outlaws lost their home opener 10-5 against the Empire Strikers at the Mesquite Arena in Mesquite, Texas. The Outlaws are now 0-1-0 and the Strykers are 2-2-0.
The Strikers started the first quarter of the game with a goal from Jose Gonzalez and an assist from Clayson de Lima in the 4th minute of the first half. The Strykers’ second goal came in the 9th minute when Alex Bradley scored and assisted on Marco Fabian. The Outlaws quickly countered with a debut goal from rookie David Stankovic. The Strykers’ third goal was scored by Justin Stinson in the final minute of the first quarter. The Outlaws were down 3-1 going into the second quarter. In the second quarter, Erik Macias scored his first goal of the season for the Outlaws three minutes in, off an assist from Billy O’Dwyer. David Stankovic tied the score at 3-3 for the Outlaws in the seventh minute off an assist from Erik Macias. In the 10th minute, the striker was issued a blue card for too many men on Harold Hanson’s serve. In the 12th minute, Erik Macias put the Outlaws in front, going into halftime with a 4-3 win.
In the third quarter, Robert Palmer equalized the game for the Strikers after four minutes, assisted by Alex Bradley. In the 10th minute, the Strikers scored 2 goals, Emmanuel Aguirre scored 1 and Alan Perez scored 1. The Outlaws entered the final quarter of the game down 6-4. In the fourth quarter, Justin Stinson scored his second goal for the Strykers in the first minute, followed by a hat trick in the third minute off an assist from Emmanuel Aguirre. In the fifth minute, Billy O’Dwyer scored the Outlaws’ fifth goal unassisted. In the 6th minute, Harold Hanson scored the Strykers’ ninth goal off an assist from Andy Reyes. The Strykers’ final goal was scored by Gerardo Juardo with two minutes left in the game.
The Outlaws lose 5-10.
