Daniele De Rossi speaks to the press after Roma drew 1-1 with Olympiacos in today’s friendly.
The Italian manager was asked about his team’s performance and what more fans can expect from the market.
“We did some good things and some not so good things. The thing I disliked the most was that we went to the goalkeeper too often. It’s important to go there to get the opposition out, but it’s dangerous to play in our own area of the pitch when they’re coming for us.”
“We will improve. The pitch was good, but we were a bit slow and it was not easy to find solutions. Sometimes we succeeded.”
“Abraham? He played the same game as the others, and it’s not easy to play well for 45 minutes. I had to let everyone play, I substituted some players, but I didn’t see him do badly.”
“We need to make sure that our automation can alternate with 4-2-3-1 and other solutions. It depends on the opponent, the game and the way they defend, and sometimes removing a midfielder can be risky.”
“Le Pe? I like it as a player.”
“As for the market rumors, from June until today, thousands of names have come out every day, we have sold players, we have signed some. We are calm, no one has to conquer me. We all think he is an important player. If he had played a little less today, we would have been happy because we know his value. But it is better for him if he always plays like today. Enzo arrived before the others, and maybe this is also an advantage. We are very happy with him.”
“Soulé hasn’t played yet and I didn’t want to push Dovbyk too hard. I always try to fit everything in, but I wanted to see them together on the pitch and that was satisfying. It’s not a given that they’ll always play together. I’m supported by a club that’s making this investment.”
“I’m the most patient person in the city because everyone is going crazy with the rumours and I know the club will invest more and other strong players will come in. It doesn’t matter who plays. What matters is that at the end of the year there is no difference between the players on the pitch and the players on the bench.”
