Take out your old iPod and fire up your ‘Songs That Make You Cry’ playlist. I bring you sad news. After covering all things Apple for over 15 years, it is with heavy hearts that we announce that we will no longer be publishing new content on iMore.
I’d like to start by thanking everyone who has supported and run the site over the years. Whether you were an early adopter in the ‘PhoneDifferent’ era, a contributor to ‘The iPhone Blog’, or have recently started reading to find out what Apple Vision Pro is all about, we have the privilege of serving you every day. A slice of apple pie.
The first iPhone, released in 2008, was a game-changing device not only for Apple but for the world. It is somewhat fitting that we conclude this publication in 2024, ahead of the launch of new industry-changing products. Apple’s technology in the form of Apple Intelligence. Just as Apple wasn’t the first company to make smartphones, it wasn’t the first to test the waters of artificial intelligence. But just as the iPhone conquered the world, Apple Intelligence could change the way we interact with technology. For the next few years.
This is a sharp reminder that the world of technology never stands still. The term ‘artificial intelligence’ was the preserve of science fiction in the early days of the iPhone. The world of publishing is forever evolving, as are the forms of technology journalism that seek to shine a light on the industry. iMore takes the stage at a pivotal crossroads in online publishing, where the battle for readers’ time and attention is more demanding than ever, and the aforementioned advances in AI and search methods are further complicating the playing field. It has been a pleasure to serve such a passionate readership over the years. Now is the time to pass the baton to new writers, new sites, and new formats.
I’d like to take this moment to thank everyone in the iMore community, past and present, for their support and passion for the products we’ve created over the years. A huge thank you to iMore’s previous leaders: Lory Gil, Serenity Caldwell, Joe Keller, and the inimitable Rene Ritchie who started this wonder a few years ago. We hope we made you all proud.
I would like to give a special thanks to the final iMore team, Stephen, Tammy, John-Anthony, Daryl and James, who I have worked with most closely and have had the honor of leading over the past few years. , and many regular contributors — thank you for putting a smile on my face every day. I can’t wait to see what you all do next.
iMore will remain online to ensure readers continue to have access to articles from our archives, and our forums at https://forums.imore.com/ will remain active until November 1 to serve the community. Our sister sites TechRadar.com and TomsGuide.com will also continue to publish all the latest news, reviews, and more from the world of Apple-based computing, and our friends at WindowsCentral.com and AndroidCentral.com will continue to provide information from the world of Apple-based computing. I enjoy the privilege of being able to do so. We bring you best-in-class news, reviews, and features from the other side of the technology barrier, while staying up to date with Microsoft and Google.
Now it’s time to close the Watch ring, gag Siri, and take a gulp. ivy app finally. Thank you for helping us think differently over the past few years. See you in the awesome iCloud backup in the sky.
