The Federal Aviation Administration uses a backup system to send a real -time safety alert to the pilot on Saturday late Saturday, the Ministry of Transportation said.
Sean Duffy, Secretary of Transport, said, “The default Notam system is experiencing a temporary interruption, but because of the backup system, it does not affect the current national airspace system.
Duffy mentioned the “Notification of Air Missions”, a warning that the FAA uses to share information on the risk of air or ground (for example, a closed runway, airspace restriction and sailing signal).
He said the FAA is trying to completely restore the system and the agency will provide an update every 30 minutes. But he warned of the delayed “remaining” flight delays on Sunday morning.
As of 2:00 am on Sunday, there was no additional update for Duffy’s official social media account or the FAA or transportation department.
The FAA’s website explained that technicians of institutions are trying to restore the “suspension of service” to the NOTAM system. It was not immediately clear whether such a blackout was in the main Notam system or backup system or after Duffy’s announcement later on Saturday. The agency did not immediately respond to the request.
The US National Commerce System includes more than 29 million square miles, and the FAA provides aviation transportation services to more than 45,000 flights a day in the area.
The FAA is in the process of modernizing the previous Notam system. After the termination of January 2023, the nation’s departure was stopped for about 90 minutes.
This is a developing story.
