Donald Trump may not have had kind words to say about Kamala Harris’s choice of running mate, but his early attacks on Tim Walz did manage to impress some with their vehemence.
In a press release issued Tuesday, shortly after Harris announced Walz as her nominee, the Trump campaign claimed that the Minnesota governor would “unleash hell on Earth” if elected. In case the apocalyptic implications of “hell on Earth” weren’t clear, the warning was capitalized.
Sure, the rhetoric of the campaign can be a little over-the-top at times, but many on X, formerly Twitter, felt Trump’s allusions to the hellfires of Hades were a little, dare I say… over-the-top.
And of course, it’s a little weird.
So social media skeptics responded in droves, many of them including photos of the governor posing with cute animals in a way that didn’t immediately suggest he was a servant of Lucifer.
One man pointed out that the Constitution does not actually give the Vice President the power to dismantle the veil separating the mortal realm from the fiery abyss of Hell.
Some have theories as to why the Trump camp denounces Waltz as the embodiment of evil and sin, the opener of the seven seals and the rider of the pale horse.
Of course, some have raised questions, including whether the Trump campaign’s press release could have been written in advance and distributed immediately after Harris’s nomination.
And Republican pollster Frank Luntz noted that Trump’s call for Walz to be “the worst vice president in history” was actually an indirect compliment to Harris.
