The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday clarified that there is no proposal to play an overseas T20I series against India and that they are currently focused on the smooth conduct of the Champions Trophy. There were reports that PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi was in discussions with BCCI officials about the possibility of hosting the T20I series at an overseas venue, most likely in England or Australia. āNo such proposal is being discussed or considered. The biggest challenge for us right now is to organise the Champions Trophy in a proper manner and the international schedule is also tight,ā a very reliable source said.
According to sources, the two main objectives of the PCB at the ICC meeting in Colombo were to get budget approval for the Champions Trophy and to get assurances from the ICC and BCCI that India would send a team to the tournament in Pakistan.
“That is our main agenda right now. So there is no room for considering bilateral cooperation with India,” the source added.
India has suspended its bilateral series with Pakistan since 2012 after Pakistan visited India for a short white-ball series.
The two countries have not played a Test series since Pakistan toured India in 2007.
With even India’s participation in the Champions Trophy still uncertain, there are speculations that the Men in Blue would like to play their matches outside Pakistan.
