“It’s been a great ride,” Bezuidenhout said in a New Zealand Cricket statement.
“Playing for the White Ferns has been a great privilege and honor and remains one of my fondest memories. This journey has taught me so much and I will be forever grateful to everyone who has walked the path with me.”
“I am happy with this decision, but it was not an easy decision,” Bezuidenhout said. “I have been struggling to find a balance between work and playing life for some time, and after much thought and reflection I felt now was the right time to step up and focus on the EPIC Sports project.”
Bezuidenhout played five of New Zealand’s six white-ball matches at home to England earlier this year, but was ruled out with a hamstring injury in the final ODI.
“I would like to thank Bernie for his contribution to the White Ferns on the pitch and for the care he has given to the team off the pitch,” said New Zealand coach Ben Sawyer. “We are proud of the work Bernie does outside of cricket and have no doubt that she will continue to have a positive impact on the lives of many people.”
Bezuidenhout will continue to play domestic cricket in the Northern Region.
