The New York Red Bulls have signed veteran forward Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting to a two-year contract as a Designated Player.
The 35-year-old Cameroon international’s contract announced on Wednesday includes an option for 2027.
Chupo-Moting spent the last four seasons at Bayern Munich, scoring 38 goals in 122 appearances and winning three Bundesliga titles, one German Cup and one FIFA Club World Cup.
“We are delighted to add a player of Maxim’s caliber to our roster,” said Jochen Schneider, NYRB Head of Sports. “Maxim is a great player and a winner. His experience in Europe’s top leagues will be invaluable for our club in 2025 and beyond.”
Before Bayern, Choupo-Moting scored nine goals in 51 appearances for Paris Saint-Germain between 2018 and 2020, helping them win two Ligue 1 titles and one French Cup. He also played for Stoke City in England (2017-18) and Schalke 04 in Germany (2014-17).
Internationally, Choupo-Moting has scored 20 goals and made 73 appearances for Cameroon, including at three FIFA World Cups (2010, 2014 and 2022).
