WASHINGTON – Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) will not attend President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration on Monday, her spokesperson confirmed to HuffPost.
The reason is not clear. Her representative did not give a reason or respond to a request for further comment.
The California Democrat called Trump’s comments about his family “sick.”
“I made a joke and people laughed at it,” she said on “The View” last September. “So the trauma wasn’t just physical, it was the rest of the impact as well.” .
Pelosi broke her hip while traveling to Luxembourg in December last year. But while recovering, she returned to the U.S. Capitol on the first day of Congress and again on January 6 for the Electoral College count.
