According to the new claim, all iPhones that can run iOS 18 will also work on iOS 19, but some older iPad models do not support iPadOS 19.
French website iphone softciting anonymous sources inside Apple, said that all iPhone models that can currently run iOS 18 will also be able to run iOS 19 when it launches in late 2025.
This includes the 2018 iPhone XR and the second-generation iPhone SE from 2020 and later. Here’s the full list of compatible iPhone models:

iPad support for iPadOS 19
The update also runs on most iPad models released after 2018. However, the 2019 7th generation iPad using the A10 Fusion chip and the 2017 2nd generation iPad Pro using the A10X will not be able to run iPadOS 19, according to the report.
All newer iPads are expected to run iPadOS 19. This includes the following models:
- iPad mini (5th generation or later)
- iPad (8th generation or later)
- iPad Air (3rd generation or later)
- iPad Pro (2nd generation or later)
Apple typically supports hardware products with system updates for at least five years, but not all features of a new OS are supported on all models. When it comes to Apple Intelligence features, the company has drawn a clear line by only using the latest iPhone models and iPads with M-series chips to support these features.
This means that each new release of iOS and iPadOS also brings new features and changes to existing features that are not related to Apple Intelligence. This is expected to be the same in iOS 19 and iPadOS 19. The slow rollout of Apple Intelligence features in iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 suggests that iOS 19 and iPadOS 19 may not get many new features that are not tied to Apple Intelligence.
If the spec requirements are accurate, the report suggests that the A12 chip will be the minimum chip to support iPadOS 19. This means that the 2019 7th generation iPad and 2017 2nd generation iPad Pro will not support the A12 chip. iPadOS 19 update.
Apple plans to officially announce iOS 19 and iPadOS 19 in June 2025 at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference. There were previously rumors that work on Apple Intelligence features would take precedence over non-Intelligence features going forward.
