Microsoft is reportedly planning to bring more major franchises to PlayStation 5 this year.
Last Friday, a prominent insider claimed that both Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and Halo: The Master Chief Collection are planned to release on Sony consoles as part of Microsoft’s new strategy to release more games on competing platforms.
Now, a new report from Windows Central corroborates these claims with its own sources, reporting that Xbox is planning additional franchises for PS5 in 2025.
According to the publication, Ninja Theory’s Hellblade 2, strategy title Age of Mythology, and “potentially” Gears of War 1 Ultimate Edition will all be coming to PlayStation 5 this year.
Microsoft’s gaming CEO said he wouldn’t rule out first-party Xbox games being released on rival platforms like PlayStation and Nintendo in the future, following a recent first wave of ports that included Sea of Thieves, Hi-Fi Rush, and Grounded. I repeated. , and more.
In an interview with Bloomberg last November, Phil Spencer said he was pleased with the first results of the multi-platform launch and that Microsoft would offer more titles to other platforms.
“I don’t see any red lines in our portfolio that say ‘don’t do this,'” he said, adding, “It’s still too early to decide on the next version of Halo.”
Figures for the multiplatform Xbox game haven’t been released yet, but there are signs of success. Rare’s Sea of Thieves was the most downloaded game on PS5 in May in both the US and Europe.
Microsoft has announced that Doom: The Dark Ages is also planned for release on PS5 and as a port of the Indiana Jones game. The Outer Worlds 2 is also planned for PS5.
