Mitsubishi Electric Automation has launched a new series of robots for applications requiring heavier payloads and longer reach. The company said its new RV-35/50/80 FR series of industrial robots are designed to handle large workpieces and heavy objects to expand automation opportunities for OEMs and end users.
“The RV-35/50/80FR series will be a game changer for Mitsubishi Electric. “With these heavier payload robots, we have the ability to perform applications that were previously inaccessible, such as end-of-line palletizing and machine tending of large parts,” says Product Manager (Robotics) at Mitsubishi Electric Automation. Curtis Sylliasen said.
The RV-34/50/80 FR series has a maximum reach of 2100 mm (about 82.7 inches) and a maximum payload of 80 kg (about 176.4 lbs). The company says this makes the robot well-suited for palletizing and machine tending applications.
Mitsubishi Electric says its industrial robots have best-in-class speed and precision to meet the demands of today’s manufacturing applications. The company designed this series of robots to expand the scope of tasks and increase opportunities through increased payload and reach compared to the previous series.

The RV-34/50/80 FR Series is designed for seamless integration.
The company says this new series of robots can be connected to a variety of factory automation equipment. This allows users to integrate the robot’s functions with IT systems. Mitsubishi also said the robot offers a variety of safety features, including position and speed monitoring. Users can also pair it with Mitsubishi Electric’s MELFA Smart Plus card for installation and programming.
Mitsubishi Electric said it has more than 100 years of experience in manufacturing and selling electrical and electronic equipment for factory automation, information processing and communications, space development and satellite communications, home appliances, energy, transportation and construction equipment. The company recorded sales of 5,257.9 billion yen (USD 34.8 billion) for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2024.
Yesterday, Mitsubishi announced that it would lead the Real-Time Robotics Series B round. The Tokyo-based company, which also participated in Realtime Robotics’ Series A round, will add a senior representative to Realtime’s board of directors. Mitsubishi said it plans to “further integrate Realtime’s motion planning technology into 3D simulators and other software to optimize manufacturing through the power of digital twins.”
