Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-Mich.) is criticizing electric vehicles. They delegated her bid to win a swing state Senate seat, despite recently voting against a bill aimed at blocking them.
A Democrat running for the Michigan Senate this cycle has released a new ad opposing a mandate to sell electric vehicles.
“No one should tell us what to buy, and no one will ask us for anything,” Slotkin said in the ad, while the words “No Electric Car Mandate” appeared on the screen.
Slotkin also said there are no EV charging stations near where he lives in Michigan and that he does not own an electric vehicle.

“I don’t own an electric car because I live on a dirt road with no charging stations,” Slotkin says in the new ad. “What you drive is your calling, no one else’s.”
Despite speaking out against the EV mandate, Slotkin recently voted against a bill that would have blocked the Biden administration’s new car sales mandate.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued final rules under the Clean Air Act in March. new emissions standards To achieve this, up to two-thirds of new cars sold by 2032 must be electric vehicles.
A bipartisan group of House lawmakers blocked new rules from being enacted last September by passing the Congressional Review Act, introduced by Republican Michigan Rep. John James.

But Slotkin voted against passage of the bill, narrowing the gap with eight Democrats who voted for it.
