In a letter to the president-elect Monday afternoon, Tarrio’s lawyer, Nayib Hassan, described Tarrio as “a young man with an ambitious future ahead of him.”
Tarrio (42 years old) Sentenced to 22 years in prison — This is the longest prison sentence for any of the Jan. 6 defendants. Tarrio was not at the Capitol, but prosecutors alleged he organized the attack just outside the city. After Tarrio was found guilty, Attorney General Merrick Garland said Tarrio played a “central role” in the effort to storm the Capitol to prevent Joe Biden from becoming president.
Tarrio’s attorney told CBS Miami that he has been in contact with people involved in the transition and hopes the president-elect will pardon his client.
“Granting this pardon will allow (Enrique) to be reintegrated into his extremely supportive family and further demonstrate our commitment to his lawful, peaceful and constructive contribution,” Hassan told Trump. “It will also enable him to fully support his family and contribute meaningfully to his community.”
Trump’s transition team did not respond to Tarrio’s request.
