Maxi Salters, a third-generation entertainment publicist who followed in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, died Thursday in Los Angeles. He was 37.
Her death was announced in a statement from Scoop Marketing, the company founded by her father, Larry Salters. The statement did not specify the cause or location of Maxi Salters’ death, but said her death was unexpected.
Born March 22, 1987, and raised in Sherman Oaks, Salters joined Scoop in 2012 and has represented clients including the Hollywood Bowl, Kia Forum, and the Music Forward Foundation. Other Scoop clients include the Eagles, John Mayer, and Dead & Company. Salters’ late grandfather, Lee Salters, who died in 2009, was a prominent showbiz figure who represented superstars such as Barbra Streisand, Frank Sinatra, and Michael Jackson.
Before going into public relations, Maxi Salters earned her degree in theater from the University of Southern California and worked in film and television casting in Los Angeles. She is also an actress and SAG member, appearing in her own stage productions and comedy web series.
As an activist, Salters campaigned for an end to violence against women with the group One Billion Rising and V-Day. “Her unwavering optimism and kind heart touched the lives of so many,” Scoop’s statement read, “leaving behind a lasting legacy of love and kindness.”
Salters is survived by her father and his partner Carol Greenhut, her mother Debra Graff, and her longtime partner Dim Dobrin.
