Manchester United are understood to have taken a major step towards completing the signing of Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzy.
Zirkzee looks to be United’s first choice as they look to strengthen their ninth-place finish. Not only does United have quality depth up front, they are also looking to secure competition for youngster Rasmus Hojlund.
Zirkzi has risen to prominence and prominence over the past 12 months after playing a key role in Bologna’s hugely successful 2023/24 season.
The Netherlands international impressed with 11 goals and four assists as Bologna finished fifth in Serie A and qualified for the Champions League for the first time in European competition in 50 years.
The 23-year-old has been heavily linked with United for weeks now and it seems only a matter of time before a deal is reached.
Bologna sporting director Giovanni Sartori has confirmed that Zirkzy is almost certain to leave the Renato Dallara Stadium in the coming weeks.
According to a follow-up report from The Peoples Person, the talisman is ready to join United, having agreed with his agent on an agent fee and commission. Zirkzee has reportedly spoken directly to Ten Hag and is convinced of the club’s ambitious project and where he belongs.
Calciomercato have now provided key details about the deal United have offered Zirkzee.
“The Red Devils have offered the Dutch centre-forward a contract worth €6 million per season until 2029,” Italian media reported.
“In addition, England coach Erik ten Hag has been granted direct access to agent Kia Joorabchian.”
“With all this, Milan are still at an impasse. The player’s contract exists, but the final, crucial step to unlock and finalize the deal is missing: the fee issue (Zirkzee’s agent is demanding €15 million).”
Zirkzee is currently said to be earning around €1.15m per campaign for Bologna, which equates to around €22,115 per week without bonuses. His contract with Rossoblu expires in 2026.
