Manchester United’s on-loan winger Jadon Sancho shone as Chelsea beat Tottenham Hotspur 4-3 to take second place.
The winger had a quick start to his career with the Blues but has missed a few games recently due to a dip in form.
He provided an assist in the Conference League win over Heidenheim a few weeks ago and scored his first goal for Chelsea in a 5-1 win over Southampton last weekend.
The England international was named in the number 11 this evening and his side got off to their worst ever start at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. They were down 2-0 after 11 minutes.
But Sancho produced a moment of magic 17 minutes before Cole Palmer’s goal and Enzo Fernandes gave the visitors victory in the London derby.
The winger received the ball on the right flank, cut in and fired an unstoppable drive into the bottom left corner, beating three Spurs players on the way.
Sancho also showed some incredible trickery in Chelsea’s second goal, beating a Tottenham defender and throwing a fantastically weighted ball into the penalty area, which resulted in a Chelsea player getting into the box and receiving one of the clearest penalties you will ever see.
SofaScore gave him a 7.9 rating for his excellent play as he scored his second goal of the season.
He completed 47 of 54 pass attempts for a passing accuracy of 87%. Among those passes were two key ones that helped his team secure a vital away win.
The 24-year-old proved to be a threat to Spurs defenders all evening, completing three of his four dribble attempts.
He also did some important defensive work, winning three of five ground duels.
As United’s wingers continue to struggle, many fans will be envious of what’s happening at Stamford Bridge and wondering whether it was really the right decision to let Sancho leave last summer.
The England winger is set to feature in the Blues’ next game when they travel to Kazakhstan to face Astana in the Conference League on Thursday afternoon.
