Manchester United are preparing a “strong” bid to sign Randall Kolo Muani from Paris Saint-Germain, according to Fichajes.
PSG were reluctant to part with the Uruguayan midfielder on the cheap, so United spent much of the summer chasing Manuel Ugarte.
Ugarte was not considered a key part of Luis Enrique’s plans in the French capital, but the Ligue 1 giants were looking to recoup the full €60 million they paid to Sporting Lisbon in the summer of 2023.
They also spent big on Kolo Muani in the same summer, and it has now been suggested that United could rescue them by signing another disappointing signing.
Kolo Muani, who scored 23 goals and provided 17 assists for Eintracht Frankfurt during the 2022/23 campaign, has struggled to live up to PSG’s expectations, contributing just 18 goals in all competitions last season after his big-money move. It’s over.
According to Pichajes, United have shown “strong interest” in signing him amid his uncertain situation at the French club.
The Red Devils are reportedly keeping a “close eye” on the versatile forward, 25, and are understood to be “willing to make an offer of around €70 million” to secure his signature.
United have struggled this season and only Southampton have scored fewer goals than them in seven more games in the new Premier League season.
It is claimed that the Mancunian outfit are in need of attacking reinforcements and regard Kolo Muani as an “attractive option” to strengthen their front line despite his inconsistent performances in Paris.
PSG are keen to recoup some of their investment and are not believed to be opposed to parting ways with Kolo Muani.
United have already spent heavily on Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee over the past two summer transfer windows. Both strikers are highly rated and their brilliance is evident. Nonetheless, at this stage of their career they are far from prolific.
So it remains to be seen whether United will decide to spend big on another striker who is not considered a guaranteed goalscorer.
