Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday to win their third IPL title. KKR were in complete control throughout the match as the Shreyas Iyer-led side registered a comprehensive eight-wicket win in the final of IPL 2024. After winning, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee posted a special message on social media. “The Kolkata Knight Riders’ win has created a celebratory mood across Bengal. I would like to personally congratulate the players, support staff and the franchise for their record-breaking performance in this IPL season. We wish them many more captivating victories in the coming years. Inside!” was posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Coming into the match, KKR produced a sensational bowling performance and bundled out SRH for 113 all out. Andre Russell took three wickets while Vaibhav Arora and Mitchell Starc took two.
Bowling coach Bharat Arun spoke about the result of the match.
“The last two years have been quite tough. We didn’t qualify and there was some introspection and we worked on what we needed to work on. (On Rana) He was an outstanding player and it’s about the bowler understanding his strengths. . And when he performs beautifully on the field, the confidence of the other lads increases with Mitch joining the team.”
“He was one of the best bowlers in world cricket and he has been in those situations before. It’s about understanding the conditions in India and once he did that, everything became magic. They were great and the spinners have matured with age. .Both bowling, he has brought a whole different dimension to our batting this year and it was Gautam who insisted Sunny open and what Sunny did was brilliant,” Arun said after the match.
