Thank you @taylorswift13 for giving us a million reasons to smile.” Cheney posted X on Sunday night, sharing a clip from the pop superstar’s concert in London. “PS- @realDonaldTrump this is what a sold out crowd really looks like.”
The video shows Swift’s boyfriend, NFL player Travis Kelce, making a cameo appearance on stage during Swift’s performance of “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” on Sunday.
Swift’s close ties to the Kansas City Chiefs caused a breakdown on the right earlier this year, sparking wild conspiracy theories and sexist attacks.
Meanwhile, Cheney seemed to defend Swift, calling her a “national treasure.”
Trump has mentioned Swift on several occasions. In February, he claimed there was “no way” Swift could support President Joe Biden and suggested he was partly responsible for her success.
Author Ramin Setoodeh, who interviewed Trump extensively for his new book, said Trump is obsessed with Swift because of her fame. According to Setoodeh, Trump called her “very beautiful” and made her question whether she was really a liberal.
In response to Cheney’s jab, a Trump campaign spokesperson told The Hill, “Who is Taylor Swift?”
