good morning. Have a happy Friday everyone. It’s a quiet morning so I think this will be a short blog.
Mikel Arteta will meet the media shortly ahead of tomorrow’s game against Southampton. There may be an injury issue or two we have to think about, but he said of the doubters ‘we’ll see in the next 24 hours’ and then we’ll wait until Saturday to find out the truth. Unlike Tom Cruise ~can do Deal with the truth.
One thing is certain: Martin Odegaard, who was not included in Norway’s squad for the upcoming national team, will not make a surprise return. Comments from some managers have raised some concerns that the skipper could be out for quite some time yet, but I don’t think there’s much of a surprise in what he said. Or something that suggests it’s worse than we already thought. I don’t think anything has changed because it was always understood that he would be out of action until after this Interlull at the earliest.
Elsewhere, Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka have been named in England’s squad for games against Greece and Finland, while Gabriel and Gabriel Martinelli are set to leave Brazil. I don’t have a full list of Interlull absentees, but I’ll compile them by posting them on Arseblog News in a moment.
It’s safe to say that during Champions League week, Thierry Henry sat down with Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards and enjoyed some clips from the CBS Golazo show where Kate Scott (formerly Abdo) was brilliantly positioned. But I also really enjoyed David Squire’s take on everything at the Guardian.
With Aaron Ramsdale returning tomorrow when Southampton visit, this Reddit post made me laugh.
Meanwhile, the long-awaited Arseblog app update for iOS and Android is almost complete. This is particularly good news. Google has been making random changes this week that mean older versions of apps no longer exist in the Play Store. We apologize to anyone who recently changed their phone and is trying to download. I don’t have a cell phone.
However, the new version will soon be available to beta testers and is expected to become generally available in the next week or so. In the meantime, if you’re missing your Arseblog fix on mobile, visit the site in Safari or Chrome and create a small desktop shortcut. The site is fully optimized for mobile and you can access it with just one click, swipe, swipe, finger or whatever you call your phone. It’s not a click because you’re not clicking anything unless you’re some kind of jazz player who clicks your finger and hits the screen at the same time. If you’re one of those people, you probably won’t be able to arrange your home screen widgets in the first place because you’ll have done something stupid anyway.
Anyway, I promise it will come soon! And when that happens, the last ads on Arseblog and Arseblog News will be gone forever. There will be some existing ad placements in the old app, but those will be gone in the new app. This means your reading experience is completely clean. If you like it, check it out on Patreon.
Not only will you support everything we do at Arseblog, including our ever-expanding coverage of Arsenal Women, but you’ll also get all kinds of extra material for just £6 a month.
