The Detroit Lions faced the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at home on Sunday in Week 2. This is the second time these two teams have met in the last calendar year. Detroit beat Tampa Bay in the 2024 playoffs. However, it was the Bucks who got their revenge on Sunday. Baker Mayfield and the Bucks beat Detroit 20-16 to start the season 2-0.
In the game against Tampa Bay, Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown was injured about 30 seconds before the end of the game. The talented WR did not return, and St. Brown was left injured. Fortunately, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that St. Brown had a contusion and cramps in his leg. It wasn’t as bad as initially thought. A positive sign for the Lions.

With a fourth-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Lions drafted WR Amon-Ra St. Brown out of USC. The 24-year-old has steadily increased his production each season. St. Brown’s 2023 season was his best yet, with 119 catches for 1,515 yards and 10 touchdowns on 164 targets. That earned him his second consecutive Pro Bowl selection and First-Team All-Pro honors. St. Brown got off to a slow start in Week 1 of the 2024 season. He had three catches for 13 yards against the Rams in Week 1.
The All-Pro WR bounced back with 11 receptions on 19 targets and 119 yards in Week 2 against the Bucs. Despite his excellent performance in Week 2, the Lions were down 20-16 at home. On top of that, Amon-Ra is dealing with leg contusions and cramps. It could have been a lot worse for the Lions’ top WR. Thank goodness it’s not a serious injury. Detroit plays two home games to start the season and then goes on the road in Week 3. Amon-Ra St. Brown is a tenacious football player who has played at least 16 games in his three pro seasons. St. Brown is likely to play despite his injury. We’ll see if he plays in Week 3 against the Cardinals.
