Liam Livingstone shared with Reuters his excitement at joining Royal Challengers Bangalore. He is excited to play with ‘King Collie’. Liam is amazed at the passion the fan base has for this mega-franchise. He considers this a fresh start after his time with Punjab Kings.
Expectations for Liam Livingstone joining RCB
England all-rounder Liam Livingstone is looking forward to a new IPL journey with Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Acquired for ₹8.75 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction, he sees this change as a golden opportunity.
After three challenging seasons with Punjab Kings, Livingstone believes the smaller confines and electric atmosphere of the Chinnaswamy Stadium suits his attacking style of play better.
“The fan base is very passionate. It’s probably one of the biggest franchises in the IPL… It’s a new beginning for me. I think Bangalore will suit my game very well. It’s a little smaller than the others. Among the stadiums in India, “It was definitely better than the stadium in Punjab, so I hope my performance will suit that venue,” Livingston told Reuters.
Livingstone is eager to contribute and adapt to his new team while building synergy with big names like Virat Kohli and Phil Salt.
Livingstone to utilize Kohli and RCB’s auction strategy
Livingstone praised the addition of talented players and expressed his enthusiasm for RCB’s auction strategy.
He highlighted the team’s thoughtful selection process that resulted in a balanced squad.
“I think we’ve had a really good auction. We’ve got some good players and we’ve brought them in very smartly. There’s some people in that team that I know well so I’m very excited to go out there as a group. It’s great to play with guys like Virat. “It would be really cool,” he said.
The switch to RCB also follows Livingstone’s brief but influential role as England captain during the West Indies series.
This leadership experience has further boosted his confidence ahead of the IPL 2025 journey.

Fresh motivation for Excel at IPL
Livingstone, who struggled for consistency with Punjab Kings, sees the switch to RCB as a reset.
“I enjoyed captaining my country. It’s a very proud moment for anyone to do that… Thankfully I’m healthy now and it’s great to be doing what we love,” Livingston said.
Chinnaswamy’s batting-friendly pitch and shorter boundaries set the stage for him to rediscover his rhythm.
“Bangalore provides the perfect environment to showcase my skills,” Livingstone added. “This season, our aim is to live up to the expectations of RCB’s loyal fan base.”
His excitement reflects a promising season for the players and franchise as they strive for their first IPL trophy.
