Trump’s Tyranny It’s been in full swing for several months now, and as we’ve covered, a common tactic from multiple contenders to cast doubt on the results of the 2020 election is being played out on television.
However, as the Republican National Convention, scheduled to begin on July 15th, less than a month away, approaches, a new strategy is attracting attention. While one competitor went on TV today and claimed he was ready for the job, the other appeared to fail two key Trump loyalty tests.
Let’s take a closer look.
Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL): “I’m actually pretty smart..”
on NBC Meet the pressDonald, who was recently criticized for seemingly praising the lives of black families under Jim Crow, which he later denied, said he was prepared to serve as vice president if Trump asks, and even president if necessary. And he wanted to make sure TV viewers knew he was smart.
“This is obviously the hardest job and the biggest job, not just in our politics, but frankly in the world,” Donalds said. “Look, I think I have the ability to intervene. I’m actually pretty smart. I can research problems really, really well. It’s about judgment. It’s about logical streams. Ultimately, it’s about how you make decisions. And you can’t ignore the fact that there are many qualified people who can help you do that job and do what’s in the best interest of the American people.”

“Do I believe in myself?” He continued. “100 percent yes. So we’ll see what decision President Trump makes. “I will support whatever he does.”
at Meet the press In the interview, Donalds also criticized Trump’s hush trial conviction (“what happened in lower Manhattan was a violation of his constitutional rights,” he said) and said, without evidence, that the conviction was politically motivated election interference. claimed.
At an event held Saturday at a black church in Detroit, Trump said Donald was “very high” on his list of potential running mates.
Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) appears to have failed two key tests..
Scott previously continued to sow confusion on ABC after refusing more than six times to answer whether he would accept the results of the November election, regardless of the outcome. this week This morning.
When asked by co-host Jonathan Karl whether he supported his decision as a senator to certify the 2020 election results, Scott said: “of course. I will support that decision and the next decision to ensure that Donald Trump will be the next President of the United States. The settlement date, November 5th, is approaching.”

Of course, we live in a democratic society (at least for now), so neither Scott nor anyone else can say for sure who will be the next president until every eligible American votes and is counted in November. Still, while Scott may have failed the Trump loyalty test to completely deny the 2020 election results, he seems to be passing another test by implying that the only election results he will certify this year are those that reflect Trump’s victory. I can hear it. (We’ve reached out to Scott’s rep for clarification.)
Another possible red flag for Trump: Scott appears to disagree with Trump’s recent pardon promise.everyPresident Trump has called them “hostages” and “political prisoners” and are among more than 800 January 6 rioters who have been sentenced. Scott seemed to suggest that he might support pardoning non-violent rebels. Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), another potential running mate of Trump, took the same stance. Today, Scott added, “Anyone who assaults a police officer, whether on Capitol grounds or anywhere else in the country, should serve time in prison.”
Perhaps to distance himself from their differences, Scott quickly reverted to Trump-approved talking points. “Put simply, John, the greatest threat to democracy today is Joe Biden.”
