Team of the Week has created a squad full of Toulouse players based on data. The full team is as follows:
Fans reacted to the announcement, but not all of it was positive.
One person said: “Leinster were dominant in the scrum. Andrew Porter played in 80+ and is back at Healy’s HIA.”
Another person wrote: “This is very embarrassing and wrong. Because there are several players who have shocked the game. If Toulouse was so dominant, why did the game go to overtime? “You might want to look for a different analytics platform.”
And a third person added: “Leinster just don’t play a French team in the final anymore.”
The last defeat was a blow to Leinster. Especially since they have lost the last four Champions Cup finals they have participated in. They lost to Saracens in 2019, came up short against La Rochelle in 2022 and 2023 and this season Toulouse beat the Irish side. .
Reflecting on the defeat, Leinster manager Leo Cullen said: “Everyone there is devastated right now. I think it’s two very good squads playing in an amazing stadium and ultimately getting the best results, right?
“If there’s a drop goal at the very end and it’s a meter to the right, we’re having a very different conversation here, right?”
Ciaran Frawley narrowly missed a drop goal at the end of normal time.
