League Cup Returns to MLS Season Pass on Apple TV July 26
The World Cup-style tournament will feature all 47 clubs from Major League Soccer and Liga MX in a month-long tournament across North America.
The League Cup, the first in-season club tournament in any men’s professional sport in North America, begins tomorrow, July 26, and fans can watch every game exclusively through the MLS Season Pass.
The month-long World Cup-style tournament features all 47 clubs from Major League Soccer and Mexico’s Liga MX. All clubs will interrupt their regular seasons to participate in the tournament, which will see the top three teams automatically qualify for the 2025 CONCACAF Champions Cup. The League Cup will feature 77 games at stadiums across the United States and Canada, and fans in more than 100 countries and territories can enjoy all the action with an MLS Season Pass subscription.
The upcoming tournament marks the second in a historic 10-year partnership between Apple and Major League Soccer. More than 1.3 million fans attended the opening match of the 2023 League Cup, where Inter Miami CF defeated Nashville SC to become the first-ever League Cup champions. Lionel Messi, who made his MLS debut for Inter Miami in last year’s League Cup, was named MVP and top scorer of the tournament with a career-high 10 goals.
“I’m really looking forward to the League Cup opening,” said Columbus Crew’s Cucho Hernandez. “It’s always exciting to win a title at this club. We have a very positive dynamic as a group, we want to achieve something and we’ll give our best in every game. It’ll also be exciting for the fans who will enjoy watching a team from afar that they might not have been able to see live.”
“League Cup matches are fun and exciting for both players and fans, and we are excited to play against a Liga MX team,” said LAFC’s Dennis Buanga. “This tournament is a great opportunity to win a trophy, and we are always striving to win more trophies at LAFC.”
“For me, everything is competition. It’s non-negotiable,” said Tigres UANL’s André-Pierre Gignac. “It’s been really great to see the growth of the League Cup and I’m happy to be competing.”
“It’s an honor to compete in MLS and the League Cup, it’s a beautiful tournament,” said CF Monterrey’s German Berterame. “I’m looking forward to the matches and hope that this time it goes in LMX’s favor!”
