I’m not a ‘Craven’ on rewatch. This movie was the final nail in the coffin of what was once Sony’s Spider-Man universe.

Kraven’s complicated relationship with his ruthless father leads him on a path of vengeance that makes him not only the greatest hunter the world has ever seen, but also one of the most feared..
examine
Aaron Taylor-Johnson doesn’t disappoint his title as Kraven the Hunter and delivers an excellent performance as Kraven. We see Russell Crowe and Fred Hechinger star as Nikolai Kravinoff and Dmitri Kravinoff respectively, and together they give great performances as the villainous Kravinoff family. Alessandro Nivola plays Aleksei Sytsevich, and it was nice to see a different take on the Rhino persona.
Aaron portrays the character really well and the R rating definitely suits the movie. Some scenes are quite intense. I would have loved to see Kraven fight Spider-Man or challenge the likes of the Punisher in the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe.
I rate Kraven the Hunter a 2 out of 5. There are a lot of action scenes in the movie, but since it’s still a Marvel movie, there are a lot of factors to consider when releasing it. Kraven is another hero who would have been a great villain in Marvel’s bigger scheme of things, considering his rivalry with Spider-Man. There is no golden thread in the larger Sony Spider-Man Universe. This movie feels like just another random independent film in the universe that asks the question, “Did we really need Craven the Hunter?” Also, despite Kraven the Hunter being part of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, there are no actual appearances or references to Spider-Man, which is really disappointing. While this film is blessed with a variety of cameos, we don’t see any significant characters, and the lack of any real connection between the other entries in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe breaks the golden thread. Rhino, the big villain in the story, was handled differently in terms of design compared to previous Spider-Man entries like The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but as a major villain, Rhino was killed off too quickly in the movie. Lastly, there is no post-credits scene at the end, so you don’t have to wait until the end. This gives the message that there may be no further future productions for the Sony Spider-Man Universe. Could Sony’s Spider-Man universe die at this point? Is the end of Sony’s Marvel Universe finally approaching?
This is the trailer for Kraven the Hunter (Marvel Entertainment). Stop by a movie theater near you. The film is available in IMAX at select theaters in Cape Town, South Africa.
