Juventus are close to finalizing a deal for Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz, a source has told ESPN.
The Brazil international is set to move to Turin for a fee of around £43 million ($54 million). Juventus’ Samuel Ealing-Junior and Enzo Barrenetchea are set to move to Aston Villa in separate deals worth £18.6m.
A source told ESPN that a deal is in the works and could be officially completed by the end of next week. American midfielder Weston McKennie was initially involved in discussions between Juventus and Aston Villa but was not included in the transfer.
Lewis, who moved to Villa Park from Manchester City in 2019, was a key member of Unai Emery’s team last season, finishing fourth in the Premier League and securing a spot in the Champions League.
Villa have been under funding pressure after reporting a loss of around £120m in March.
Luiz left Villa having scored 22 goals in 204 appearances over five years.
Villa have also agreed for Tim Irogbunam to join Everton and Omari Kellyman to join Chelsea.
Ealing-Junior is set to return to England after spending time with Chelsea’s youth team before joining Juventus.
The 20-year-old has represented England at Under-21 level and has made 45 appearances for Juventus since making his senior debut in 2022.
Varenekea, 23, spent last season on loan at Frosinone.
