Joy Chavis shows off her pregnant belly as she soaks up the summer sun.
On Tuesday, the entrepreneur shared several photos from a sunny day on the water with her children, Shai and Hendrix.
She captioned the photo, “Summer mode on.”
Chavis is expecting her third child, a daughter, with NFL star Trevon Diggs.
In a recent YouTube vlog, she expressed her excitement, saying, “We’re super excited about a baby girl, and after this is over, I don’t think I want to have any more kids, but I would love to have another one, either a boy or a girl. I don’t know.”
She also shared her commitment to maintaining a healthier lifestyle during pregnancy: “I’m really trying to stay hydrated and really push myself to get up and be active on the days I want to.”
Chavis acknowledged the importance of self-care, especially at age 35. “I don’t want to overdo it because I’m 35. And after having a baby, it’s going to be really hard to recover because it was really, really, really hard to recover with Hendrix and Shai.”
Chavis, who stayed healthy during her pregnancy, continued her active lifestyle through her third trimester. On Thursday, June 27, she posted a video of herself dancing in the studio to Instagram.
“Big mama. I’ve never danced in a heel class while 3 months pregnant so this was a real challenge,” Chavis wrote in the clip’s caption.
While the video received many positive comments, Chavis also received criticism for her weight gain during pregnancy.
She addressed the negative sentiment on her Instagram story, writing, “It felt so good. The comments like ‘she got a great comment’ made me laugh. This is why I hid from my other pregnancy after 6 months because of the ‘insensitive’ comments. That’s why I don’t have any pictures/videos/etc from that pregnancy until now.”
Looking back on her past insecurities, Chavis says, “I was so self-conscious because everyone expected me to be small and healthy. I don’t care anymore. I just let my body do what it wants and worry about it later. It’s never been easy for me, but I’m grateful that I’m able to create a life and still be active.”
