Former George W. Bush speechwriter David Frum said Monday how Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz will do to Republican rival J.D. Vance in the upcoming debate what Kamala Harris did to Donald Trump in the presidential election. We talked about whether it could make you angry.
“I’ve known him for a long time,” Frum told CNN of Vance, who wrote for Frum’s FrumForum website under a pseudonym from 2009 to 2012.
Trump’s running mate is “very brittle” and his “public persona is fake,” Frum noted.
“That person is very irritable, irritable, angry and controlling when exposed. That will be the challenge of this debate. Can Walz successfully hold up the mirror and keep it there so America knows what its options are?”
Vance, a Trump critic turned acolyte, is “a combination of opportunistic, stubborn and unstable,” Frum wrote. “This is one of many vulnerabilities that can be exploited by a skilled adversary. Walz has already mastered some of them. He gets a chance to use it more on national TV Tuesday night.”
