Leonardo, a global leader in aerospace, defense and security, views Central Asia as a strategically important region, said Angelo Cecchini, vice president of international business development for the company’s Northeast Asia, Oceania, Central Asia and India. He emphasized Leonardo’s commitment to building lasting partnerships in the region rather than pursuing short-term opportunities. “Central Asia is widely recognized for its strategic role as a bridge between Asia and Europe, its energy resources, and its importance to regional and international security.”
Leonardo focuses on providing modular and scalable solutions tailored to meet local needs for security, infrastructure and disaster relief. The services the company provides include technologies that protect against terrorism and cyber threats, enable safe transportation and resource management, and support natural disaster prevention and response.
At COP29 in Baku, Leonardo showcased space-based technologies for resource management, environmental monitoring and disaster resilience, highlighting their contribution to climate adaptation and decarbonization efforts. “Our expertise supports sustainable energy and technologies, including clean energy deployment and risk mitigation,” the VP said.
Leonardo is also exploring alternative propulsion systems, such as hybrid electric and hydrogen-based technologies, to sustainably support aviation modernization in Central Asia.
“We aim to promote long-term growth and stability by providing tailored solutions and respecting the sovereignty of our partners,” added Cecchini, positioning Leonardo as a reliable ally in the future development of the region.
