We’ll have to call all Baldur’s Gate 3 mod lovers on console and start removing those mods. That’s because the incoming hotfix will make your saves unplayable.
It’s no secret that Baldur’s Gate 3 players love mods. More than 50 million mods have been downloaded since Patch 7 was released, and I’m sure there have been more downloads since Larian shared that fact. However, some console users may be installing too much, as Larian shared via the official Baldur’s Gate 3 Twitter account that a console-specific hotfix is on the way. There are 100 mods installed on the console. “We will be releasing a console-specific hotfix in the near future that aims to prevent instability, performance slowdowns, and crashes when playing 100+ modes on console,” Larian explained on Twitter.

“For maximum stability, we recommend installing only mods you know you will continue to play, but this hotfix limits the number of mods you can enable on your console. We do not recommend activating more than 100 mods on your console in the meantime. Issue Please use the console to prevent this from happening. We will share more information soon.”

A follow-up tweet stated that if you have more than 100 mods installed on your console, “A future console hotfix will temporarily make save files containing more than 100 mods unplayable. After removing some existing mods, your saves will only contain 100 mods.” These mods will remain uninstalled!”
I’m not sure why I need to install so many mods, but apparently it’s a big enough problem that Larian needs to make a whole patch for this problem. Larian hasn’t yet shared a date for when this hotfix will go live, so there’s still time to remove some mods, but at least you’ll be able to play your saves again soon. Stay tuned to the developer’s social media. Meanwhile.
